Change is good! And I love how photography can allow me to explore new and different things! For this shoot, I was invited to attend a Army & National Guard Graduation Ceremony. I shot most of the event, but was there, mainly, to capture moments for my friend Kelly as she pinned her husband. It was an exciting day and a great way for me to get out and explore a whole new realm of photography.

While here in the Lone Star State, I was able to photograph a few sweet families! I am so thankful for friends and family who support me from 3 states away!

This family lives just a few houses down from my parents and have the most gorgeous children. For a photographer, heading to a location that is essentially unknown to them can be a bit worrisome- what will the lighing be like? What will the background images hold? But the location this Mom picked turned out to be filled with great photo ops and we were so thrilled that even a slight breeze blew in just in time for the shoot, so the temps were not yet scorching as we ran around and played.

Maternity Leave

Thank you to everyone who allowed me to photograph them this spring! And for those who I had to cancel on (darn weather!) you will be given first priority for the fall. I will contact you in August about scheduling.

I have one more shoot before I take off for maternity leave. I will be away from photography for at least 6 weeks after she is born, but will not actively schedule photos after that. If you, or someone else you know, is interested in photos for late summer or fall, I can pencil in a shoot now or August would be a good time to schedule with me. I am considering a slight increase in my prices as my time will be even more valuable once baby #4 arrives and we start our homeschooling this fall. Please check my blog for info about that.

A new family to photograph! One thing I learned from this shoot- all good photographers MUST have a horse handy. Two, if possible. We were photographing by a fence I frequent at Pioneers Park and out of the blue a horse, and eventually her friend, came for a visit! This was thrilling to little D and we got some great smiles! Baby T was less than thrilled with my camera, but we managed some pretty cute faces! These two were dolls!

The itsy bitsy...

This one wasn't quite itsy bitsy... in fact, she was pretty big. Orb spiders, I think, are pretty amazing. Their webs are so intricate! Don't get me wrong, I still can't stand spiders!

I was posing a family for a shot at Pioneers Park. We had to walk through some tall grasses filled with webs and grasshoppers to get to our position. As I stepped back to take the photo, I scared up a grasshopper. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a bunch of flickering movement... when I turned, I saw this Orb spider wrapping up her dinner that I helped provide. Sorry Mister Grasshopper! You're welcome Ms. Spider! It was pretty fascinating to see the spider spin the grasshopper up into her web. Then she sat protectively above it- maybe waiting for some privacy before enjoying her dinner?

My son Korben had an amazing teacher for pre-school this year. We enjoyed her so much! I was thrilled when she asked me to take her family's photos at the end of the school year. I ventured out onto their farm, originally owned by her grandparents and caught a glimpse of the joys of carefree children climbing, jumping, hiking, exploring, etc. I hope these images capture their lighthearted spirits!

Friends since high school, these two Moms wanted to join forces for their photos. It was a fun shoot on a windy day- the kids were great fun, though when they were done, they all let us know (you'll see the funny picture!). I loved seeing how everyone interacted with one another- just as a great big, happy family!

Nancy and I are in the same MOPs group, but we've never had much of a chance to visit. I feel so blessed to have been able to snag a short time with her and her family. Nancy has a great story to tell, I feel like I took away much more from our time than I am giving back in photos.

Mallory, my sister's college roommate, has a precious little boy. Carter was born nearly 2 months premature, so this is his first photo shoot as a "full-term" kiddo. My sister and her twin boys (who were also premies, but are now 7 months) joined in for a few photos. It was wonderful to see you, Mallory and to meet your family!

Baby Azure

I am so proud of Amanda. Growing up she was like a second sister to me, so to see her with her new baby was amazing- I can't believe she is all grown up! She is such a good mother, and even though Azure is crying in some photos (I bet he wanted back in that Easter basket!) Amanda was right there to hold him and comfort him. I am so grateful to have met little Azure.

A Texas Tradition

The bluebonnets are blooming everywhere in Texas! They are so beautiful- I miss them each spring. Every year, Texans flock to the patches along the sides of roads, highways... the local news even lists the best spots! Here are a few photos of these lovely state flowers!
